Keith Urban‘s new single “Little Bit of Everything” is being hailed by fans as an up-beat, bubbly summer sound. With his busy career on American Idol and The Voice prior to that, the singer hasn’t released a new single in almost two years. He does insist, however, that fans will be pleased with the direction that the song takes in relation to his musical journey.
“’Little Bit of Everything’ conveys a sentiment that’s always felt right to me,” says Urban.“I connected with that from the first time I heard it.”
In an effort to evolve as a musician, Urban recruited the help of new songwriters and producers. He says the added expertise helped him to expand his creativity and engage new ideas.
“My thing is I wasn’t trying to make a purposefully different record,” he said. “I just wanted the freedom to try and create anything and to try other things and if in the process of trying all these other things and going off into the ether, I was pulled full circle back to where I was, and yet it was slightly different but very similar, then so be it.”
Urban admits this album was a long time in the making but assures fans that the next one won’t take nearly as much time. “I think it will be quicker because this one was trying lots of different things and assembling lots of people and figuring out what a lot of people do and do well,” he said. “The next record will be quicker because I know all those people now and I know where to go.”
