Check out our interview with Scott Brantley, an up and coming artist from Georgia!

1.  Congratulations on the signing with Studio Gold Nashville!  Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background.

My name is Scott Brantley, and I’m just a regular ole country boy from rural Middle Georgia, just outside of East Dublin.  I love being outdoors, and also a huge sports fan (Go Dawgs).  I’ve been playing music for as long as I can remember, getting my first drum set at Christmas when I was 3.  I played music all through school, and my first experience playing outside of the school band, was with a Southern Gospel Quartet I formed with my brother and 2 friends when I was a teenager.  I started writing country music about 10 years ago, and formed a band about 8 years ago.  I’ve opened shows for several major label artists, and played some amazing venues over the years.  I am looking forward to my work with Studio Gold, and sending music to radio for the fans.  I can’t wait!

2.  What will be your first project with the label?

We are currently writing material, and picking songs for an upcoming album, and hopeful to release a single later this year, or early next year!

3.  How would you best describe your style of music?

I think my music would be best described as country-country.  These days you have pop-country, rock-country, alternative-country, texas-country…I could go on.  But I think my music is best described as simply, country-country.  I’m an old soul at heart when it comes to my country music.  I like a lot of the new stuff as well, so I try to keep my music modern/fresh, but still have elements of my traditional country roots.

4.  What are some of the goals you’ve set for yourself in your career?

The most important goal for me, as a country music artist, is to one day play the Grand Ole Opry, and get a standing ovation.  Haha.  My immediate goal is to record a very good project with Studio Gold Nashville, and get a single out to radio for the fans.  I’d love to be able to travel around, with my band, and play music for fans, that love the music.  Being able to provide for my family, doing something I love to do, is the ultimate dream.  And, one day, I hope to see it through.

5.  What’s been the biggest “Wow” moment in your career so far?

I’m not exactly sure.  I’m still pretty excited to be signed with Studio Gold Nashville.  To know that someone believes in you and your talents enough to take a chance on you, and sign you to a deal (writing/artist) is pretty amazing to me.  It’s been an ultimate goal of mine for years now, and to see that part of my dream come true, still makes me stop and say “wow”!

6.  Outside of music, what is something that you are really passionate about?

My family, first and foremost.  I love spending time with my wife and daughter, any chance we get.  Whether it be going somewhere together, or just hanging out at the house.  They are the most important thing in my life.

7.  What’s the #1 item on your Bucket List, outside of music?

You know, I really have never thought about my bucket list, haha.  I know one thing I want to do in my life, and this goes back to the last question a little, is for my kids and family to look at me and say that I’ve been a great husband and father.  I felt that way about my parents, and proud of them.  And I hope that one day my kids will be able to tell me that I’ve been the best dad they could have ever had.  Outside of that, I’d love to see some of the world I guess.  Visit some of the wonders of this world, and see what God has created that is amazing.  On a small level, maybe jump out of an airplane…with a ‘chute of course!

8.  What would you say are your biggest strengths and weaknesses as an artist?

I think me being a singer, writer, and musician and taking pride at being good at all three, is one of my biggest strengths.  I love singing, but just as much I love to play guitar and be part of the band.  I also enjoy seeing songs come to life, writing them.  That creative side, and hearing what I’d like for my music to sound like, in my head, makes it easy.  I think my biggest weakness, and hurdle I will need to overcome, is being a little shy I think.  I sometimes struggle when I’m around people who are new to me.  Being on stage in front of fans is easy, but being personable with people outside of that is something I’ve worked hard at for the past couple years.  I hope I’m improving!

9.  What is your favorite charity to support?

Well, I lost my dad in 2010 to cancer.  So, I participate in the Relay for Life events any chance I get.  That hits close to home for me, and several of my family members as well (Uncles, Aunts), so that’s probably my favorite charity to support.

10.  What advice would you give to an aspiring artist trying to make it in the music business?

Never give up on chasing your dream.  If you believe in yourself, never turn away from that.  I almost did, and right at the moment when I thought I was going to give up, Studio Gold walked into my life, and I think we have big things in our future.  We’ll see what that future holds!  I’m so glad I didn’t, because years from now, no matter where this road leads, I can always know that I gave it my best shot, doing what I love to do!

11.  Any final thoughts or comments you’d like our readers to know about you or your music?

I hope that by listening to my music, they can figure out that I’m just a ordinary ole country boy, who is passionate about true country music.  To me, country music was always about real life emotions, and the lyric was always so important.  The music around the lyric helps to bring those emotions to life.  It’s hard to find another genre of music that can speak to you like country music can, regardless of how you feel at any given moment.  I’m very passionate about what country music means, and is, and I hope people will hear that when they listen to my songs.
