Artist Name: Erin Gibney
Hometown: Southington, CT
What project(s) are you currently working on?
I am currently releasing brand new music throughout this summer and am working on getting my full EP out! I am so excited about the music that is coming, and I feel like it really describes who I am as an artist. We also just released the brand new music video last month for “Easy Like That” at The Boot, which is a project I have been excited to share for a while now. And my single, “Single at the Same Time,” just came out!
What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?
Growing up, my dad would always play guitar at night, and I found it really intriguing that playing an instrument gives you the ability to create your own music. So when I was a kid, I picked up the violin in my band class, which quickly turned into other instruments like ukulele, guitar, and piano. I used those instruments to write my own music, and I knew that I wanted to be an artist when I stepped on stage for the first time at 11 years old. From that day, I committed to being a singer/songwriter and haven’t looked back since!
If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?
If I wasn’t pursuing music, I would most likely be a baker or an author. I absolutely love to bake in my free time, and it’s a really relaxing hobby for me. I think I could also be an author because I really enjoy the process of writing, which is something I could channel into that career.
What is your favorite downtime activity?
My favorite downtime activity is reading on my porch. I love to read and find it’s the best way to relax after a long day! The book I just finished reading is called “The Unhoneymooners” by Christina Lauren.
Who is your biggest celebrity crush?
My biggest celebrity crush would have to fall with most twenty-something-year-old girls and be Harry Styles.
Who is your favorite sports team(s)?
My favorite sports team is the Yankees. I am not an avid watcher of sports, but growing up my dad loved the Yankees so that was the team we always rooted for growing up. We took him to see a game for his birthday a few years back, and I actually really loved the experience.
What is the last movie that you watched?
The last movie I watched (and the movie I watch probably once a week) is “How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days.”
What is the last album you listened to?
The last album I listened to was “Bone Structure” by Ron Pope. This album came out right before quarantine, and I don’t think I’ve stopped listening to it since! My favorite song on the album is “She’s Good.” It’s the perfect road trip song for the traveling I’ve been doing this summer.
If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?
If I could listen to one album for the rest of my life it would be “Born to Run” by Bruce Springsteen or “Folklore” by Taylor Swift. This one is really hard for me to choose between because both of these albums have some of my favorite songs of all time on them.
What is the greatest country song of all time?
In my opinion, I think Brad Paisley‘s “Whiskey Lullaby ft. Allison Krauss” is the greatest country song of all time.
What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?
My favorite city that I have visited, though I wasn’t there for music, was Paris. Growing up, I chalked Paris up to be this really magical city, and when I finally went, it was everything I imagined it would be. The architecture was beautiful and the food was amazing. My sister and I, along with a few friends, went back in June of 2019, and it was definitely my favorite place that I have ever been to.
What is your favorite meal?
My favorite meal is from the bagel shop in my hometown, Fancy Bagels. I get an everything bagel with chive cream cheese and an iced coffee half decaf/half hazelnut with cream and sugar. Fancy Bagels is my first stop every time I go home and, maybe it’s the sentimentality of it, but I’ve yet to have a meal that can beat it.
Who is your dream duet partner?
My dream duet partner is definitely Taylor Swift. Growing up, she was a huge influence for me as a woman in music and her 1989 tour was the first stadium concert I had ever been to. She has been a huge inspiration to me in the way that she conducts herself as an artist and the way that she can create amazing music over a variety of genres.
Who would you like to go on tour with?
I would love to go on tour with Kelsea Ballerini. She has been an absolute idol of mine in country music since her debut album, “For The First Time.” Going on tour with her would be a dream come true for me.
What is your ultimate career goal(s)?
My ultimate career goal is for my music to reach millions of people all over the world. I would love to be able to one day go on a world tour and get to connect with the people who connect to my music. I want to be able to play music in arenas filled with people and one day hear my songs on the radio.
