Artist Name: Amberlea Bruch
Hometown: Woodstock, Ontario, Canada
What project(s) are you currently working on?
I’ve wrapped up my first EP, “Find My Way”, which is out now! The EP contains the single “Benefits of You”, which was released earlier this year alongside two other tracks – “Queen of Kentucky” and the EP’s namesake, “Find My Way”.
Alongside the release of the EP, I’ve also been writing new songs and getting ready to record a new project which will be released next summer.
What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?
I have always known that music was what I wanted to pursue. It just took me a little bit to gain the courage to believe in my own voice and writing skills.
I was constantly inspired by all of the music playing throughout my house growing up, as well as my Dad’s guitars and my Grandma’s piano.
Enamored with the instruments that were in the house and with the sounds of Phil Collins, Celine Dion, Elton John and Billy Joel on rotation, I later asked to start piano and guitar lessons. From there, my inspiration continued to grow and so did my dedication to move forward in music.
If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?
To be honest, although I’ve worked many jobs along the way to support myself and music, I can’t imagine doing anything other than music for a living. If I don’t, then it eats away at me. Music is – and always has been – in my heart to pursue.
What is your favorite downtime activity?
I love spending time by a lake taking in the sounds of nature, going for a hike, working out, reading and watching movies and having dinner with friends and family.
Who is your biggest celebrity crush?
Brett Eldredge. Not only is he an incredible songwriter and artist, but he also brings so much awareness to mental health and overall well-being.
Who is your favorite sports team(s)?
I have to admit I’m mostly a bandwagoner when it comes to sports. I just love getting to be a part of the game day energy and getting to see a live game.
What is the last movie that you watched?
“Look Both Ways” – I saw someone I followed on social media had written one of the songs for the film, so I thought I’d check it out on Netflix. Needless to say this is now one of my favorite movies. I really appreciated how they showcased that no matter the choices we make in our lives, particularly as females, we can still succeed in our dreams, relationships and – above all – find love not only in our relationships but in ourselves.
What is the last album you listened to?
First off, I have to say that I love a good album. There’s something so special about listening to the tracks in the order they’re arranged and hearing the story lines woven throughout the full body of work.
The last album I listened to was Nicolle Galyon’s “First Born”. Nicolle is one of my biggest writing inspirations. She is so incredible at painting pictures with her words and her debut album is no exception. With utmost authenticity Nicole dives into her life journey thus far through the lens of what she hopes her children know about her when she’s no longer here to remind them herself. The album is nothing shy of beautiful.
If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?
This question is so tough! But I think the easiest way to answer is with the one album I still crank from start to finish, which is “Come On Over” by Shania Twain.
What is the greatest country song of all time?
Nothing like Shania’s “Man I Feel Like A Woman” – no matter what phase of life I’m in, this one always hits just right.
What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?
I recently had the incredible opportunity of attending a writing retreat in the Smoky Mountains and the views were absolutely spectacular.
What is your favorite meal?
Steak, Tacos or Burgers.
Who is your dream duet partner?
Shania Twain or Brett Eldredge.
Who would you like to go on tour with?
Honestly after two years of minimal shows I would be so grateful to just go on tour!
What is your ultimate career goal(s)?
This might sound a little cheesy but I would love to get to a point where I have enough songs to put together a headlining global tour that allows an audience to connect with themselves, each other and the joy in life.
