I discovered Hannah Bethel a few months ago after hearing her catchy song, “No Where Left To Roam” on a “new music” disc, so I was pleased that she had time to sit down with me for a few minutes to talk about her budding career.  Here is what the tall songstress had to say!  When you’re doing reading the interview, scroll down to see the music video for the song that put her on the map!

Q:  So where are you at with your music career?

A:  Well at this point, we are still pushing the first single from the new record, the “Freedom” EP.  The single is called “No Where Left to Roam.”  The music video for the single just got picked up by The Country Network and The Nashville Network and GAC.com which we’re very very excited about, and we’re actually just in the beginning stages of shooting for the second music video for the second single, but I can’t tell you what it is!

Q:  Have you heard yourself on the radio yet, and if so, what was your reaction?

A:  I have not yet.  I’ve heard some internet stuff, and I’ve watched like the Country Network internet reel, but I haven’t seen it or heard it on the radio yet.  I’m sure I would weep!

Q:  The marks under your eye, is that makeup? (She often has these little teardrop-like floral markings under her left eye)

A:  (laughs) yes, it’s make up!

Q:  What’s something you have a passion for besides music?

A:  Well there’s not a lot else aside from music (laughs).  But I really love camping and fishing.

Q:  So you don’t mind getting dirty?

A:  I don’t mind getting dirty!  I like the no makeup, no showers, sleeping on the ground!

Q:  What’s the #1 item on your Bucket List?

A:  Oh man, I really wanna go to Egypt!  As far as non-music related Bucket List, I really want to see the pyramids!

Q:  What’s your favorite downtime activity?

A:  Probably doing something outside…hiking or camping.

Q:  What’s been the biggest “Wow!” moment in your career so far?

A:  Um…oh my gosh!  There’s been a few of them, I guess…well playing at the Bluebird Cafe is always just a magical, magical experience, and I guess one of the cool thing that happened recently, I just wrote a song for new artist Rachele Lynae, it’s her current single, it’s called “Fishin’ For Somethin’.”  I guess she ran into Chuck Wicks somewhere and he was like, “I love your song!” and he started singing it.  And I was like “That’s really cool, Chuck Wicks is singing my song!”

Q:  Who are some of the artists that you look up to?

A:  I really love Willie Nelson, I’ve always loved his entertainer style, his writing style.  I love everything about him.  I’m also a huge Beatles fan, I love Miranda and Little Big Town and those guys.

Q:  If you weren’t in music, what would you be doing with your life?

A:  I would probably would be like an archaeologist I think or like a paleontologist, like dig up dinosaurs, that would be pretty cool!

Q:  What’s your favorite song to sing in the shower?

A:  Probably “I Can’t Make You Love Me” by Bonnie Raitt.

Q:  What’s your favorite person to follow on Twitter?

A:  I’ve been really following Kacey Musgraves‘ tweets and Instagrams a lot.  She always posts interesting things.

Q:  What are the essentials you have to have with you out on the road?

A:  I always have a bottle of honey for my voice in case I get tired, and tons of water.  You know, a make-up kit, that kind of stuff.

Q:  What advice would you give to an aspiring artist?

A:  I would say the first most important thing is to identify who you are and the message you want to present as an artist, then just go forward, don’t stop, don’t look around, keep going forward, don’t give up, don’t doubt yourself, keep going forward.
