Taking my morning scroll through my Facebook timeline just now, I stumbled across a video shared by one of my favorite artists, Ray Scott. Scott is a witty modern-day traditional country music artist that has always stayed true to his country roots. When he shares a video, it is worth your time to stop and watch.
The video in question is a commentary about the state (and problems) with today’s country music by a gentleman named Grady Smith, a writer whose resume includes gigs with Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone, and The Guardian.
It’s been a rough few years for country music, starting with the Bro-Country era that Florida Georgia Line helped usher in. This video perfectly explains the current issue many of us “traditional country fans” have with what is mostly garbage that we are hearing on today’s country radio, so without further ado, here is what many of us are feeling, put into words better than anyone else has been able to.
