Album Review: “Boys Night Out” by The Oak Ridge Boys

The Oak Ridge Boys are releasing their first ever Live Album today, and we had a chance to listen to it so that we could write a review about it.

Now, this isn’t your normal review where we have to listen to a CD multiple times to develop an opinion of some new, unheard music that we then have to figure out how to write about.  No…this album has been listened to multiple times because it is simply a joy to listen to the spot-on vocals and harmonies of the ageless ones who have jokingly dubbed themselves as the “Original Boy Band” AND the “Original Big Hair Band.”

“Boys Night Out” is a collection of some of The Oak Ridge Boys‘ greatest hits, all recorded live.  Pretty simple concept that surprisingly has never been done before by The Oak Ridge Boys despite a 50+ year career!  Needless to say, it was long overdue and the choice of songs on it are perfect.  They must have had an impossible time deciding which songs to include, considering they have released an astonishing 81 combined albums (country, gospel, Christmas, Greatest Hits, compilations, etc.) and 65 singles (which includes 29 Top 5 hits and 17 #1 hits)!
