Artist Name:  Jeremy Bowen
Hometown: Wilmington NC! But right now I live in Sanford FL.

What project(s) are you currently working on?

Right now I’m working with Tyler Spicer on my second single, “Jesus Is Alive”! I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!! It’s a very simple song but one I think is very necessary right now. I’m also learning guitar on the side on top of a day job so I always have a checklist in my mind.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?

I’ve wanted to be a singer my entire life to be honest, I saw Britney Spears as a kid on TV and knew I wanted to be a star. But losing my job in 2023 really gave me the push I needed to stop caring so much what people think and just go all in. I just remember being a teenager and daydreaming all the time about where my life would be. I thought I’d be on tour and selling albums, not trapped in customer service limbo just to pay bills. And I’d found this picture of me from when I was 17 doing my first little mall talent show and wondered “what happened to me?!”  and I realized “If I don’t go for this with everything I have, I’m going to be an old man one day sitting in a nursing home wondering if I’d really could’ve made it.” That one thought just lit this fire in me that I was determined never to let go out again. So here I am!

If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?

I’m a huge nerd. I love anime, video games, and fantasy novels. I actually taught myself to draw during COVID and was getting pretty good at drawing my own characters. If I flop tremendously I may have to dust my iPad off again.

What is your favorite downtime activity?

Video games, going to the gym, and dancing. I can’t dance at all but it doesn’t stop me. I always have to be doing something otherwise I just feel like the day is wasted.

Who is your biggest celebrity crush?

David Archuleta!! We have a ton in common, I was in the Mormon church for a while too when I’d turned 18 and really relate to his story. Even as a teenager I thought his voice was amazing and he was my American idol favorite, I was salty for years he didn’t win.

Who is your favorite sports team(s)?

Orlando City Soccer!

What is the last movie that you watched?

Wicked. I saw the Broadway musical in middle school and have been obsessed with it ever since, so seeing it come to life is making my inner tween very happy.

What is the last album you listened to?

The Tortured Poets Department Anthology – Taylor Swift. It blows my mind how she can weave a narrative together through her music that makes me feel like I was actually there.

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

This was hard!! But I’d have to say, #1 to Infinity by Mariah Carey. It may be cheating because it’s all her greatest hits, but she just understands how a song is supposed to sound so I’d never get bored with that record. It’s got everything from the big vocal moments, to the dance tracks that define half my personality. If I can’t use that, then The Emancipation of Mimi. One of the greatest comeback albums of all time.

What is the greatest country song of all time?

I gotta give it to “Jesus Take the Wheel” by Carrie Underwood. People who don’t even like or listen to country love this song. It’s simple, beautiful, and powerful with its message. I think it represents what country music is at its core, storytelling with heart and soul. A good country song has this authenticity to it that you can’t really explain, it just hits you when you hear it, and that’s how you know its real. Not just any singer or any songwriter can do that. But more than that, it recognizes the need to surrender our battles to God. Jesus is our savior and our lifeline especially at our lowest, and this song was really one of the biggest ways I’d ever seen someone bring The Lord onto mainstream radio. That, to me, is what gives it the crown. I can’t even imagine how many people started their walk with Jesus because they heard this song and it planted that seed. And it’s just as powerful today as it was when it first came out. You can’t fake that.

What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?

Clearwater Florida! I love a beach town! I went with a friend years ago when I was 27 and just had the absolute best time. I’m a beach bum at heart, I love being near the ocean even though I can’t swim.

What is your favorite meal?

I’m basic, I can be easily bribed with mozzarella sticks.

Who is your dream duet partner?

I’m very shy in person so I’d be nervous singing with anyone to be honest! But I gotta say Mariah Carey, her artistry is unmatched. I’ve been singing along to her tracks for decades so it’d be nice to have the full experience.

Who would you like to go on tour with?

Taylor Swift. I just know it’d be the best time and I feel like we’d be friends. She knows how to put on a legendary show and I’m also very dramatic so I think the energy would be crazy.

What is your ultimate career goal(s)?

I want a record deal! I want to build a repertoire of songs that stand the test of time. Some artists are only good for a little while because with the internet and social media it seems like tastes change every single month. It’s just as easy to blow up as it is to fizzle out, but that’s why my biggest inspirations are real talents that don’t need to rely on gimmicks or riding a viral wave in order to get people to listen to their music. More than that, I want to make wholesome music you can play around your families that brings people closer to God. If my songs can plant that seed to follow Jesus, then that’s the real win.
