Check out our interview with rising Texan star Holly Tucker!  Her new single “Country Music Won’t Let Me” is a great song, and anyone who lists the Grand Ole Opry as their #1 goal is one to root for in our book!

What project(s) are you currently working on?

Currently promoting my radio single “Country Music Won’t Let Me“, which is climbing the Texas Red Dirt charts, as well as doing well on Spotify

Also getting ready to release a single in June called “Take Me Fishin'”, and brand new EP to follow, which will be Part 1 of an entire album, releasing in August.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?

I got on stage for the first time at 7 years old at my home church in Waco, First Baptist Woodway, and I’ll never forget, it was such a peaceful, steady feeling being on stage, very natural, and I fell in love with it. So from there, I got a little karaoke machine and would practice singing all my favorite songs in my room for hours every day. And then when I got to be about 11 or 12, I started wanting to get on stage more. So, I sought out opportunities at Texas opries, karaoke nights, coffee shop open mics, talent shows, special events, etc. Really just anything that would get me experience!

If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?

Honestly, I have no solid plan B. I have other interests, sure, but nothing quite so grounded as what I get to do with music. It would have to be something creative and nurturing, for sure though!

What is your favorite downtime activity?

Catching up on my favorite Netflix shows! I love The Office, Dexter, Once Upon A Time, Riverdale, Supernatural, Gossip Girl… I have a wide range of cinematic interests.

Who is your biggest celebrity crush?

 Chris Hemsworth. No question. Haha

Who is your favorite sports team(s)?

I follow mainly college sports because of my alma mater, Baylor University! Especially football, basketball, and our baseball/softball teams. But I come from a long line of Dallas Cowboys fans as well.

What is the last movie that you watched?

 Second Act with J-Lo.

What is the last album you listened to?

Camila Cabello’s Camila album. I am a country artist myself, but I get inspired by a wide variety of music genres.

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I think the Cody Johnson Cowboy Like Me album was pretty incredible all around. Every single song is a hit.

What is the greatest country song of all time?

That is such a tough question! Haha. I am very partial to “Paint Me A Birmingham” by Tracy Lawrence.

What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?

I probably have the best time (so far) when I go down to play Laguna Bob in South Padre Island! The audiences are always super appreciative and come back consistently, and I also get to lay around on the beach for 3-4 days when I go down there.

What is your favorite meal?

Mexican food, every time. Sour cream shredded chicken enchiladas are my very favorite! However, I will say that I have some pretty odd weaknesses: cereal, and cornbread. Not at the same time, of course.

Who is your dream duet partner?

SO many… but Cody Johnson would probably be my number one because he’s such a great vocalist. As for another female, definitely Carrie Underwood.

Who would you like to go on tour with?

Again! Cojo and Carrie Underwood. Haha.

What is your ultimate career goal(s)?

I have several… but at the top of the list would be to play and be inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry.

I’d also love to eventually be nominated for CMA and ACM awards, be touring with other major artists I look up to and respect, and have successful radio singles.

In general, if none of that ever happens, my goal is just to always make the best music I possibly can, and do it my own unique way. Never be afraid to be myself and be vulnerable and honest and real through the music I create.
