The singer was admitted to a Texas hospital yesterday July 7th and is in critical condition after complications with a viral cardiomyopathy. According to his publicist this is a recent diagnosis. Further details have not been made available at this time.
In his recent appearance at the 2013 CMT Music Awards he was looking in better health than in recent past, surely due in part to his vow late last year to stop drinking. This has come at a time in Travis’ life where we have seen him recovering from a number of personal and legal struggles.
