While CMA Fest doesn’t officially kick off until Thursday, there is a lot going on around Nashville in the days leading up to Country Music’s biggest party.
We started our time here in Nashville with a tour of the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday afternoon. Before going into the museum, we stopped in the gift shop where we ran into actor Fred Willard, who just happened to be there shopping as a fan! He was very kind and took the time to pose for pictures. After that chance encounter, we moved on for our tour of the museum.
The tour of the Hall of Fame itself starts on the 3rd floor where the beginnings of country music are explained. It included videos, displays of old recording studios, and informational displays on the wall. As you walk along the 3rd floor, you progress through the years and see who the stars were and how country music has evolved.
There is a lot of history in this sacred building, from stage costumes to instruments to personal belongings. Some of the highlights of the museum as we made our way down to the 2nd floor were Elvis Presley‘s gold-plated car, the Patsy Cline exhibit, the Lee Greenwood exhibit, the Bakersfield Sound exhibit, and of course the room where all of the Hall of Fame members are immortalized.
While this is just a brief review of our tour, we don’t want to give it all away. It’s best that you see it for yourself. Therefore, if you ever have a chance to visit Nashville, the Country Music Hall of Fame should be the first stop on your itinerary. Every country music fan should learn and appreciate the history of the genre and see where it’s beginnings come from!
