Dean Brody was born in Smithers, British Columbia, where he worked in a sawmill and played guitar in his spare time. In 2004 he moved to Nashville to pursue a career in music and quickly gained a songwriting contract, however the expiration of his U.S. work permit forced him to move back to Canada. In 2008, at the suggestion of producer Keith Stegall, he returned to Nashville and signed with Broken Arrow Records.
A virtual unknown in the United States, Brody has had plenty of success in his homeland. In 2009, he made his debut with the single “Brothers”, which reached 26 on the country Top 40 here in the U.S. and was the first single from his self-titled debut album. Consistently, Dean has released an album nearly every year since, with Trail in Life in 2010, Dirt in 2012 and Crop Circles in 2013.
2012 and 2013 found him winning the CCMA Male Vocalist of the Year and in 2014 the CCMA Album of the Year for Crop Circles.
His “Crop Circles and Tractor Beams” tour has sold-out, scoring him his 14th top 10 single with “Another Man’s Gold” and becoming the first male Canadian artist to receive two number one country singles.
Crop Circles, Brody says, is an album he hopes will take listeners away from the cares of daily life for a while. “When we listen to music, we don’t necessarily want to think about what’s going on in the here and now, we want to go on a journey, and I hope that’s what happens for my fans with this record.”
With the great success Dean has had in Canada, we think this new video will get you to take a second look at this Canadian sensation!
