RIP to another music legend, as Lynn Anderson has passed away. Best known for her hit “Rose Garden,” she had a heart attack last night and died at the age of 67. WSM 650-AM is reporting that she was in Vanderbilt Hospital being treated for pneumonia when the heart attack struck.
We had the honor of meeting her a few times, including this interview we did with her at CMA Fest two years ago.
Her list of accomplishments include winning the ACM’s Top Female Artist in 1967 and 1970, a Grammy in 1971 for Best Female Country Vocal Performance, the CMA’s Female Vocalist of the Year in 1971, and several other awards and recognitions from various industry organizations. She had seventeen top-10 hits, including five # 1’s. She was also a well-decorated equestrian, and maintained a ranch in New Mexico.
